Starting on January 20, 2010 Soulful Equine will introduce a series of reviews of non-traditional products, services and books. This review series is in addition to our regular once a week blog posts. Starting out, we will have one review each month which will post on the third Thursday. In the future, we may increase this to twice per month.

There are many reasons we decided to start conducting reviews:

  • Most people love to find information via product reviews. As Soulful Equine grows, such a service will be something people will not only expect but will be seeking.
  • Reviews can, and do, have the potential to help improve something in your life or assist you in finding a solution to a problem.
  • It gives Soulful Equine another way to share information that may help our readers become more informed.

What Can You Expect?

Soulful Equine will focus on products, services and books that we are passionate about and that are related to our blog. They will reflect what Soulful Equine stands for… which is honesty, integrity and quality.

We plan to point out particular qualities, described in our own words, that you may be able to utilize and benefit from. One of Soulful Equine’s beliefs is that by improving and helping the human we can in turn help our animal companions; therefore, most of the book reviews in our series related to personal productivity or self improvement will be positive in nature, since this type of information can add value and be applied to your life.

More On How The Product Reviews Will Work

I will most likely be doing the majority of the reviews and, on occasion, Sharon may write some as well. I plan to conduct the reviews according to guidelines similar to those below:

  • I will not tell you that something is great when it is not.
  • Each article will project an honest and kind-hearted approach to the review. My intent is not to insult anyone and say a product or service is a throw-away.
  • Each review will start out with all the things I like. If I do not like something in particular, I will still start off on a positive note but will list the product or service’s shortcomings.
  • If I do not feel the product is worth reviewing, I would rather not waste your time or mine. I would rather spend time reviewing products I am passionate about.
  • The article will include links to the website, blog etc. of the item being reviewed so you can obtain further information. If applicable, we may also include links to other reviews or a collection of reviews if we feel it adds value.
  • Last, but not least, in some cases we may have a giveaway of the item we review. Details of these giveaways will be provided in the article.

I have a list of possible product and service candidates, but if you have any that you would like for me to consider reviewing, please contact us through our Contact Form and place “Reviews” in the subject area. Note, we do not conduct reviews of products sold through multilevel marketing.

As a reminder, our reviews will be in addition to, not a replacement for, our regular Tuesday blog post. A review will be conducted once a month and posted to our blog the third Wednesday. To help you stay up to date, we will announce our review via our e-mail list. If you have not already signed up, now may be a good time.

In addition, I will be keeping a list of all of the reviews for 2010 in this post for future reference:

Completed Reviews

  1. Book Review: A Modern Horse Herbal by Hilary Page Self
  2. DVD Set Review: Hoof Rehab – Tools of the Trade with Pete Ramey
  3. Horsemen’s Laboratory Review And Product Giveaway
  4. Equine Mane & Tail Care Product Review
  5. Acres USA – A Voice for Eco-Agriculture Review
  6. Food, Inc. – A Movie Review and Recap

Until next time…

Non-traditionally yours,
Stephanie Krahl

Hi Steph, great great great idea!!!! I am personally looking forward to this. I really know that when you recommend something that you have totally exhausted your research. But be sure and add your little quote that I love so much “what I know today”. That let’s us know that you still reserve the right to change your mind or make any changes in your opinions. That is my two cents for today. See you soon!
Love, Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for your feedback. I ‘m very excited about sharing reviews with Soulful Equine’s readers. In regard to your comment about “what I know today”… yes, I do say that a lot. My fundamental belief is that we should always be growing and evolving as individuals and this is one of many areas where that’s the case. I do not claim to know everything but I will share what I do know to be true today. :-) Like you said, that may possibly change in the future.

I look back on my approach to horse care even just a year ago and how much I have learned. It is incredible the wealth of knowledge one can obtain from continued study, application, sharing and experience.

I’m very happy you are looking forward to our reviews!

Thanks for your support.

Greetings,
I am also looking forward to your reviews. Since I have a dream and a plan for using equine-assisted psychotherapy to assist behavioral problem children learn to become well-adjusted members of our society, anything I can add to my knowledge to keep my four-legged children happy and healthy is appreciated.
Blessings to you and yours,
RaeLynne Anthony, RN/BSP/CEAP
