Why the Barefoot Horse Never Lies

Picture this, your farrier or natural hoof trimmer stops by to trim your horse. As he drives up to your barn, you glance at the clock and realize you lost track of time. In a rush, you throw on your coat and run out the door to greet him.

As you approach the truck from the passenger side, he rolls down his window and you say, “I’ll be with you in a minute. I have to get Jewels out of the pasture.”

As you approach Jewels’ living area, you call out her name. She stops eating grass and looks toward you with ears forward, happy to see you.

She meets you half way, then offers to gently put her nose in the halter you’re holding. From there, you and Jewels head to the barn for her hoof care pedicure.

Do you feed these 3 beneficial superfoods to your horse?

When was the last time you noticed the abundance of equine nutritional products on the market?  It’s crazy, isn’t it?  It’s also confusing.

Additionally, we have products that are labeled “veterinarian recommended” or have the seal of approval from the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC).

This type of labeling can be used as a guide but should not be the deciding factor when selecting a product for your horse.

Are you feeding your horse these 4 ‘healthy’ – yet dangerous – foods?

Have you ever watched the movie I Am Legend with Will Smith?  The story is about a “cure” for cancer that later resulted in radical long term effects that almost knocked out the human race as we know it today.

At first, the treatment completely cures a patient’s cancer.  That sounds great doesn’t it?  Not so great if horrible mutations developed after the fact.

I walked away from that movie with a sick feeling in my stomach, because it’s not that far fetched from what could become a reality.

Something I keep in mind is that although science is powerful and beneficial, Mother Nature will always reign – one way or another.  Man tends to easily forget that small detail.

Why Every Experience Counts With Natural Horse Care

Have you ever felt confused about the differing opinions and approaches floating around about natural horse care?   If so, you’ve probably felt a similar confusion about approaches to your own health.

Is there a common denominator that causes this type of confusion?  Absolutely.

Usually if you have a problem, the first thing you do is ask people about the issue you’re having and start surfing the Internet to find a solution.  As you search, you find others with the same problem you’re experiencing.  You discover that each person used a different approach and each said it worked.  You may even try a couple of these approaches but none of them work for your situation.

Do You Care About Being Normal?

Zorse

What is normal anyway?  Have you ever asked yourself that question?

Of course it depends on the context, right?  We’ll stick with the subject of horses since that’s what we all care about; however, normal versus unconventional can apply to any subject.

If you’re reading this, you’re not normal.  I hate to tell you this, but you’re not.

And I’m not normal for writing about caring about being normal.

Is being normal really all that important?  For you, it may be your bread and butter.  It helps you feel safe and comfortable, except when it comes to your horse.

The Truth About Having Horses in Your Life

Post image for What Does Non-Traditional Really Mean?
Do you remember the first day a horse came into your life?  Your very own horse?  Maybe you can’t quite remember that first day because you were very young.  That’s okay.

Do your best to think back as far as you can to a day you can remember when a horse first came into your life.  How did you feel?  Where you excited?  Scared?

It’s hard for me to remember the exact day a beautiful Shetland pony named Thunder entered my life.  What I do know is that I was about 2 years old and she loved to bite and run over me.  My mother told me that I use to run in to the house crying because of Thunder and then I’d go right back out for more.  How crazy is that?

7 Quotes That Will Impact Your Life with Horses – And Why

Spursuader

I’m sure we’ll all agree that the majority of people like a good quote.  Sometimes it may come at just the right time when you’re in need of encouragement or when you need a bit of inspiration to help get you through hard times.

You may notice I use quotes often throughout my writing.

When I see or hear a quote I think worthy of saving, I add it to my never ending list.  Where I get my quotes will vary.  They may come from a book or article I’ve read or from a seminar I’ve attended.  I always strive to extract out the essence of an author’s message or an educator’s main point.  Quotes help me to do this in more ways than one.
