Do you remember the first day a horse came into your life? Your very own horse? Maybe you can’t quite remember that first day because you were very young. That’s okay.
Do your best to think back as far as you can to a day you can remember when a horse first came into your life. How did you feel? Where you excited? Scared?
It’s hard for me to remember the exact day a beautiful Shetland pony named Thunder entered my life. What I do know is that I was about 2 years old and she loved to bite and run over me. My mother told me that I use to run in to the house crying because of Thunder and then I’d go right back out for more. How crazy is that?

What are the qualities of a horseman?
As someone who is seeking what’s best for your horse, you’d probably agree that there are a lot of trainers in the world, but few horsemen.
So what’s the difference?
I’ve touched on this subject many times in my articles but, in a nutshell, a horseman is flexible in his approach to horses, and will put the horse first despite peer pressure, ego, and counter-productive emotions.
A horseman understands and takes to heart that any “issue” with a horse is usually not about the horse at all; rather, it’s about what the horse is reflecting back to you.

How do you define the word “luck”?
Luck defined by successful people is when preparation meets opportunity. This is my favorite definition of that word.
Others may think of luck as a self-fulfilling prophecy, and I believe this has some truth to it. For example, those who tend to have a more optimistic outlook, usually have much better life experiences.
Those are also the individuals who will seek out something good in a seemingly bad situation.
Then there are those who make it a habit to complain and to blame anything else instead of redirecting that energy and looking at themselves.
You really can create your own luck to some degree.
